Pisces season is here, but what exactly does that mean?

February 19th to March 20th is Pisces season, meaning we’re in the thick of it right now. If you’re a Pisces, this means that you’re probably feeling pretty emotional right now, as you’re all about deep-running feelings and sentiments and finding artistic methods to express the depths of your experiences. The Piscean energy is also intuitively aware of other people’s emotions, and Pisces often know exactly how to make others feel better. As it turns out, there are a host of houseplants that sync up nicely with the emotional intelligence and creativity of this zodiac sign. We’re excited to share them with you today to help you and the other Pisces in your life find a few new houseplant soulmates!

The Best Plants For Pisces in the Edmonton Area

Because meaningful connections are so important to them, caring for houseplants is great for the Pisces soul, as it allows them to nurture and care for another living thing. Some houseplants are pretty resilient and don’t really need much doting from their humans, but because Pisces love to love, we’ve picked a few houseplants that need some extra TLC from their owners and are thus a bit more suited to this intuitive water sign:

SENSITIVE PLANT

The Mimosa pudica, commonly called the sensitive plant or touch-me-not, is a South American creeping shrub with some interesting characteristics that we know the Pisces will immediately connect with. Like the Pisces, these plants are highly responsive to their surroundings and have tiny hairs on their leaves that fold inwards when triggered. Changes in motion, temperature, and touch will cause this sweet little flowering perennial to close up, a trait very familiar to the Piscean soul. Just remember to give it lots of sunlight and keep the soil moist but not waterlogged for optimal results.

PHILODENDRON GREY

The philodendron hastatum grey, or “silver sword,” is a philodendron variety that we know every Pisces will love. With its characteristic sword-shaped leaves and metallic finish, this popular houseplant is actually considered endangered in the wild, making it a meaningful plant to add to your collection. The silver sword loves to climb, and, like its Piscean counterpart, relies on a solid structure to reach its full potential. This plant can greatly benefit the dreamy, emotional nature of the Pisces as a reminder to find solid ground when their emotions are running wild. The sword-shaped leaves are also quite symbolic, reminding the Pisces that the need to defend one’s inner world is crucial when you’re so busy helping others, as it can be easy to let your guard down!

This philodendron variety is fairly tolerant, so regular watering and feeding, combined with moderate to bright indirect light, will keep this beauty shining for years to come.

BABY TEARS

The Soleirolia soleirolii, or baby tears, is a mossy, sweet-looking plant with a delicateness that soft Pisces will simply love to have around. The baby tears plant suits the Pisces’ watery vibe with a flowing, trailing nature, reminiscent of a cascading waterfall. It is also quite hardy, balancing out a duality that any Pisces is sure to embody. These plants are often found gracing fairy gardens and terrariums, or paired with other houseplants to fill in empty ground space. You will also see them dreamily draping over a pot or hanging basket. To keep them happy, raise humidity levels and keep them relatively moist. This Piscean plant can get dramatic and moody if it’s not happy with its moisture levels!

Salisbury Greenhouse-Alberta-Plants for Pisces-peperomia hope

PEPEROMIA HOPE

Another trailing beauty, the peperomia hope is a delicate-looking succulent sure to draw the eyes of the soft-hearted Pisces. Often called a “trailing jade,” the gentle appearance of this peperomia is peaceful and in sync with the emotional worlds of the Pisces. It is also thought to bring good luck, playing to the Pisces’ superstitious sensibilities. As long as you give this plant bright, indirect light every day and let the soil dry out between waterings, you’ll have yourself a new favourite Piscean pal!
